The V Project

The Goal
Recreate the original Gibson 1958 Flying V as close to original specs as possible. Use only period-correct hardware and include the modifications and small flaws that appeared in the original. Hand-age components to make the instrument feel and play like the original.
The Guitar
Each guitar is hand-built with a minimum of tooling. No kits/CNC here. Each neck is hand-cut and hand-profiled. Body and neck are White Limba lumber from South Africa. We’ve reproduced the V bridge plate, PIO “phonebook” capacitors and all other hardware is period-correct and hand-aged in-house. Pickups are PAF Landmark Humbuckers hand-wound by Manlius Guitar Pickups. Authentically finished with nitrocellulose lacquer made to 1950s specifications. See more specs here
The Gain
The actual construction of one instrument requires 80 – 100 hours to complete. Hundreds of hours of research before production have gone into our attempt to create the most period-correct V that you can find! The tone of this guitar is outstanding. We think you will love our achievement as much as we do!
